An April week in the best city in America

A cold spell has descended upon us, but last week was a great week to live in the Twin Cities.  Last Tuesday, the princess and I met with a friend and his baby daughter for an afternoon at Minnehaha Falls.  I’d never been to the falls, and I was amazed by the natural beauty, though not amazed that we have yet another fantastic park for residents right in the cities.  We ate at the Sea Salt Eatery, where the oysters on the half-shell were fresh and the fish tacos were being grilled by the ton.

We drove from the park to pick up my wife, but not before stopping for fresh smoothies at Jamba Juice and getting real Jamon Iberico, French butter, and chevre from the Saint Paul Cheese Shop.  A delight.  Along the way, we also stopped at one of the three-dozen thriving bookstores in the area.

On Thursday, Kate and I went out to Masa for some upscale Mexican (and I mean very upscale) before our concert at the Minnesota Orchestra, voted the best small orchestra in the world.  The music was almost as beautiful as my date, and included a world premiere.

The weekend was spent at home, cozied up together reading books and watching shows and playing games.

I miss many of my friends across the US, but I love this place.
